Raspberry Pi 5 Active Cooler Heatsink/Fan is a single-piece anodized aluminum heatsink with an integrated blower. The component features pre-applied thermal pads for heat transfer and mounts to the Raspberry Pi 5 board directly using spring-loaded push pins. A passive heatsink delivers lower idle temperatures (around +45°C). When the fan is utilized, noise levels range from 35dB to 40dB. For normal use, adding cooling to the Raspberry Pi 5 is optional.
Note : Installing the Active Cooler onto the Raspberry Pi 5 board while using the Official Raspberry Pi 5 Case requires removing the fan that come with case to have enough space for installing the Active Cooler. Two fans cannot be installed at the same time.
The heatsink and fan come in one piece and mounting is through snap-and-fit on dedicated holes on the Raspberry Pi 5 board. The fan on the heatsink comes with 4-pin connector for you to connect to the dedicated fan connector.

The cooling fan is PWM controllable from the latest Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm for Raspberry Pi 5). By default, the fan is automated from the latest Raspberry Pi OS, no configuration is needed. Just make sure to get the latest Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm for Raspberry Pi 5).
There is a 4-pin wire fan connector. 2 wires for Power (+ and GND), another wire for PWM to control fan speed, and the last wire for Tachometer to get feedback from the fan.
